Rock Climbing
Dachstein Southface Steinerweg
For rock climbers this is one of the big routes in Austria. Its never super hard, up to Grade UIAA IV, but consistent in difficulty and joy. Its just a great climb, rock quality is good, character of climbing is fun, … these 850 m vertical meters are just a pleasure.
What’s to be expected:
This is a one day trip. So we meet early in Filzmoos am Dachstein and do the short approach to the beginning of the route. Its around 1.5 hours before we put on the climbing shoes and get started. Usually in 6-7 hours we should be done and descend over the via ferrata down to Dachstein glacier. Here comes the perk of it: we take the cable car back down to the car. How convenient is this?
